Money, We Need Money...

http://uk.finaperf.com/images/logos/240x180/london-stock-exchange.jpeg

"the financial heart of the UK, the London Stock Exchange (LSE) has begun a twelve-month migration to a Linux based trading system.

By the end of the year it wants the Linux-based MillenniumIT trading platform up and running.

The software was gained by acquiring the Sri Lankan company that developed it for £18 million in September. When it is switched on it will replace the outgoing TradElect platform, which is based on Microsoft's .Net framework and was upgraded by Accenture only two years ago at a cost of £40 million.

The TradElect system has been an embarrassment to the LSE with a number of high profile outages. It is also understood to be significantly slower than specialist rivals such as Chi-X. Just keeping it running over its last year of operation cost the LSE £20 million for patches.

In a press release the LSE told the financial markets that the Linux based software will bring significant benefits. The new trading system will give it "high performance" trading, as well as an "agile, efficient, in-house IT development capability", it said.

With LSE financial backing, the trading system will be flogged to other stock exchanges around the world."

We have heard so far that Linux will be used in the London Stock Exchange and eventually it will be used worldwide!  It's by far one of the best news that we have heard so far about Linux being used in the mainstream.

If you have followed me on my personal blog and on ubunutgeekin website, it's by far one of the best news that we have heard so far!

Also in th news we have heard that the U.S. Government is planning on having discussion on how they can get to bring Linux/Unix software more in the mainstream.

We have heard also here in San Fransisco that they are planning on going to all Linux also.

This is the most news that we have heard so far about the Linux/Unix systems coming into the foreplay, or at least that I have heard.  What really does astounds me is when Google comes out with it's OS system, will it actually take away the personal computer and have everyone using it in business?  At home?  I have to see this and it seems to me like it might actually happen.

I have also heard a little bit about Google having some problems with its OS, it might be delayed a little bit, which of course its one of the best news that I have heard so far.  If you don't bring out the software until its fully ready, then this is the best news so far.

Like I was saying it's wonderful to hear that Linux systems are going to be put into play.  I know that my colleague, Ike here on Ikes Network also thinks that Haiti should have the chance maybe to learn open source and to be part of the rebuilding process later on.  What do you think about that?  Would you think that it maybe one of the best ideas having the chance to have Haiti to teach it's citizens how to use computers and use open source to rebuild it's country? To make it more educated and to get the word out to make and improve everyday life's in a poor country like this?

For the poorest children, anywhere in the world, open source is so valuable to have, it's the way for them to get online to actually to be connected to the online world. It's the best idea and move.

Of course you can never take and disconnect to a Windows computer unless you really can  do it, which most of the time you can now since it seems like we do have Google in our everyday lifes.

For the most of us we still need at least one Windows computer to get connected to because just sometimes a Mac computer, or a Linux computer will not work and we do need to have a Windows computer to log on and use some software.

For the most part though its a wonderful feeling to know and understand, that Linux is getting more into the mainstream than ever before. Its the best feeling to have some competition and to have Linux clipping at the heals of Microsoft will make it even better!

How was everyone's weekend? Mine was very good, had a great weekend off. We are having a busy week ahead of us here this coming Wednesday is the Apple event that we all have bee waiting for!  What kind of tablet is it going to be? Is it going to be called a tablet? Is it going to be called a slate?  I really would like to know what we are all eager to be waiting for and what it's going to be called?

Like the rest of you I will be waiting for the announcement and will tell you all about it come Thursday morning!

The Winter X Games begin this Thursday! And yes I am heading to Aspen CO for all the fun and excitement!  A whole weekend of fun, fun fun will be at the event! If you are going to it, please respond back, maybe we shall meet!

We started to get rain back here once again and it suppose to rain today, it's suppose to be heavy rain today, and then some in the morning on Tuesday. Hopefully this will be the end of it, because I swear it's been raining so much here I am getting tired of it!

Josh and I sort of relaxed this past weekend, did not do much of anything, just again relaxed and enjoyed the weekend together.

I don't know about you, but I have became a tea drinker, drinking tea seems so good and they have so many flavors to choose from now!

I had some people who cut me some slack last weekend on my blog about Skype and Ekiga, yes I do think Ekiga does work well, Skype does or it would be nice if they could open up the source so a platform of many could use it.

Here is the thing though Skype does not want to do this, it would be a rival to them to do something like this.  If it can be done in the business of Yahoo Messenger and and MSN and having it being used in Pidgin Messenger and Messenger of your choices, then I don't see why it could not be done.

It's still a lot to be discussed and I think I am going to write a article for it this coming Thursday about this and more of the open source discussion.

I might be contributing to another website here in the near future,  I am still debating myself and thinking about it.

If I do it's something I shall discuss further little bit later. I have not discussed if I can give out the website name right now, so once I do find out I will get back to you about it.

I might start my own website, right now I am not going to do something like that, but I may start my own website and run my own servers here at home. Again I will have to see about it and talk to Josh about it which we are.

We still the two of us not even in the new apartment that we will be moving in on February 1.

I really cannot think of anything else to talk about right now. I guess I will end if for now.

Feature of Ubuntu and Linux

Photobucket

Recently things have came out about Canonical and how they would like Ubuntu to be run in the future. It was short and sweet and to the point.  It was asking customer how they feel about Ubuntu and what they would like in the software in the future.

I have heard that is sort of was a ruckus to the some people like the reason behind it.  But let's take a look at maybe the reason why they did do this to some customers.

First off, Ubuntu to me needs to find out really all together how many people they actually do have using Ubuntu,  for example I know when you use Mandriva and install it it ask you to register with Mandriva, this way they know maybe not for certain (in case if a user loose the information)  but they do know in the ballpark on how many users they actually have running Ubuntu.

Of course it may be inactive users, but they would know how many users were using Ubuntu.  Second of all I think it's been said here before, they need to get out more and listen to the customers and find out what needs to be done before they release another system. I like it that they may wait and test out the new things for the next system, but they do need to listen to the beat user who are using it and testing then just dishing it out every six months.

I think we are still really though when you look at the whole thing it's a very young company indeed, Linux for sure is by far not even 20 years old and we are wanting it to improve. By far we are seeing improvements, it is for the geeks and the fanboys like myself.

At the same time though we see the mainstream public coming in now because it's being spread by word of mouth that it's much safer, its like are we doing the right thing?  The best question is if you are looking for a basic, and I cannot state it strong enough once again, if you are looking at a basic system like Ubuntu for basic things, it is the software by choice and OS by choice to use.

If you are a geek and fanboy like myself there is other Linux OS to use, Mandriva, which by far is stable just like Ubuntu.  Arch is another one that I have heard so far that is really good to use also.

Mean while back with what Ubuntu did to it's customer fan base and was asking them what they would like to see in the future.  By far if they want to take a bite out of  Windows and Mac, then this is what was needed, and if they are going to want to install the Skype service, maybe what needs to be done is to look in to creating there own service. Oh wait a minute we do have one and no one ever talks about it. EKIGA phone service, how about that? Let's work on getting this service to work just like Skype in a way and then we have a way around it.

I know Ubuntu and I know Linux users we can unite together and we can create something all most like Skype. Why don't we work on the code with EKIGA and work with it and create something like Skype, a better service? Indeed it's out there and the person that does this, you better include me!

Mall Cop....

Photobucket

Okay, delayed by one full day I am so sorry for the situation with the computer at play, some things are still not fully running, but it's getting back very slow for us once again. Hopefully everything will be okay and we will be able to breathe by the end of the week.

Work is going very fine, it was busy day yesterday, along with having problems here at home with the network and having to deal with work related issues, it was overall a busy day for me. I was up darn near all night and all day Sunday and did not get to sleep until I think it must have been close to 10pm last night.

So last night I slept really well! I did want to tell you about two things and break them here for all of you, the first one is that Josh and I have a new apartment! We move in on February 1st

It's fairly big apartment,  it's got a small kitchen and a laundry room, where we can put the cage so I can be locked in there when Josh wants to lock me in it.

Of course we have two bedrooms, and it does have a basement where we are going to be sound proofing it so we can have some play time!

What we think were going to do because the basement is big were going to move the laundry room downstairs, we have ask the landlord if this is okay, and he says along we pay for it and don't make a mess, he is okay with it!

What else can I say that been quite interesting, well this past weekend humiliation, embarrassment was done in the mall, well that was until security told us to leave because it was to much!

Before I go into detail on what happen this past weekend, what the plans we have from now on if we are going to do something in public Josh and I we are going to announce it here either on Tuesday or Wednesday so everyone that wants to see it can particulate.  Heck you might even be able to actually help out Josh, who knows!

What went down was we went into the food court,  Josh and I ordered Taco Bell and both of us ate.  After both of us were done, Josh told me to take my sandals off and I did, and then he told me to come over to him. Before I was to sit on his lap he told me to take my t-shirt off, so I took it off and then I could sit on his lap.

I was on Josh lap he then took his left hand and started to pinch my nipples, I left out a groan and moan from him doing this.  I looked over and saw some girls who were staring at me and looked over to the other side and saw more people who were looking at me.  Josh then took and gave me a kiss. By this time I started to hear laughing.

Josh then took and started to rub my legs, and at the same time was pinching my nipples. I felt in my place, having him doing this in front of everyone, seeing me have my Master doing this to me.

I was leaving out moan and groans and then all sudden a friend of Josh and mine, Tyler came over, he started to rub my barefeet, he only did this for a little while, and then he got up and moved in back of Josh, and he gave me a kiss, he then started to pet my hair.

While this was going on, Josh was rubbing my legs and pinching my nipples, by this time my nipples were getting soar from being pinched.  Having everyone watching me getting this done made my package get larger and larger.

This would have gone on longer but by this time some concern parent notify security and we were escorted out of the mall.  However we never did get arrested, nor we were told not to come back again. Actually the security guard sort of chuckled when he saw this happening.

Oh and while I was walking out, that package of mine was huge, at first it was hard for me to even stand and walk at the same time, but after a while it went down for sure.

Until Thursday

Night Posting

So I want to just say to everybody, Sorry for not being here and doing this so late in the evening, but I promise each and everyone of you the reason why it's so late.

Computer problems were to blame here, and well when we have computer problems, we have computer problems!

But were back, and I had this whole list of a thing I was going to talk about and well I think I am just going to have to wait to tell everyone about it in the morning.

I hope everyone had a great weekend? I know for sure I did and it was a busy one indeed.

I shall update everyone in the morning. Until then, have a great evening everyone.

Don't do anything that I would do kids while I am gone. Oh and don't hide your dime size bags of crack in the hanger at NASA in Florida!  For one thing, if you do that you will be hanged.

And if you see a guy in the mall this weekend and his legs are getting rub in the food court or somewhere in the mall, yep that is me!

Ubuntu, Mint, Mandriva, Oh MY!

http://www.anewmorning.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/linux-windows.jpg

Last night , I had a chance to talk to someone little bit about technology and Linux format, Of course I did not go in depth about it.  But it was very cool to here someone understand about Linux and Ubuntu, of course we all know that Ubuntu is by far the best kind of format that there is behind Windows and Mac.  It's one of by far easy formats to learn, and it looks well use to look like Windows.

Why do I say it looked like Windows and Mac? Well I have heard so many people talk about how the control bar that is on the top and bottom by default needs to be replaced. For one Ubuntu is only like 8 years old. Not a whole lot of people even understood how to operate a Linux computer until Ubuntu really came around.

Of course we have had Redhat which was around for sometime, but even before Ubuntu, know one really even knew how to run a Linux computer.  Linux is meant to be easy, meant for geeks alike,  meant for someone who would be in the mainstream public to be something that is worry free.

You hear in the community that changes need to be made to Ubuntu. Of course I agree and disagree with this out cry. Yes, some of the things like the default audio that I think all of us here at Ubuntugeekin can agree is or needs to be changed or worked on little more.

But when it comes to issues and such for someone that installs it over a Windows computer, you have to remember it was built for Windows, not for Ubuntu for Linux.

The best way to understand it is to actually read up on what kind of software, Ubuntu does work on the best, and that would be to listen to Ubuntu.  Of course I am for one the one who does use Ubuntu and over written it from a Windows computer instead.

When you become certified, reading up on it, you understand what Ubuntu the company really means.

That does not mean that I don't have empthay over the ones who have trouble with Ubuntu bugs and issues that it may not work correctly.  I do understand your situation.

But with each and every new Ubuntu OS that is launched every 6 months btw, it seems to be working better each and everytime.

Now back to the person that I was talking to last night about it.  We did talk little bit about the other distros of Linux, I did tell him to try Linux Mint out, and I think he will try the distro out.  I do like Linux Mint, and I also do like Mandriva in someways also.

But by far, Ubuntu and being a Ubuntu fanboy is what I am.

Cold Season 2010

http://001yourtranslationservice.com/me/Health/pics/Common-cold-remedy_flu.jpg

Well, I have to say to each and everyone of you, it seems like everytime I go on a road trip and flying, I always get a cold. And that is what just happen. It started out with a sneeze last night, and ever since then its a full blown cold.  I am able to still work yet though, so I will be working today, but darn it. I am having the head cold of 2010!

How is everyone doing anyways?  I get a lot of people who questioned me about my trip to Las Vegas and not meeting up with any of you, first off it was all work, and it was some play, but it was with co workers, hanging out with them.  And when you go for the trip, you want to see all of it, well actually your unable to see all of it. It's just to much to see.  I think they say it's like 4 football fields of stuff that was inside.  And it was dry in Vegas.

Also yes, it was only four day event, it does not last for to long.  Will I go back again next year? I really don't think I will be going back next year, but then again you never know.  I am going to be going to the Apple event which will be happening on January 26.  Still don't even know what the big event that is going to happen. I am leaving on January 25th for the event and should be there for it on January 26 when it debut!

Josh and I have to go to this store to install Linux system, it's going to be Redhat, I have never used Redhat, I have used KDE, which I have heard that KDE and GNOME is used in Redhat, so I think I should be able to install the system. Josh knows how to install it so it's good to have someone to help me get it installed.

I go back to school next week, and start it at night. I begin school at 4pm and goes until 9pm Monday to Friday. I get the weekends off which I enjoy!

Oh and some exciting news will be coming up later in the week if everything comes back for Josh and I later in the week!

I shall speak to you all again on Wednesday!

How many of you have missed me? I have actually missed myself for the last couple of days!  In case if anyone did not know, we were actually gone to Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas since Thursday morning, and we finally arrived back home late last night!

It was very awesome, saw a whole lot of things that well let me just tell you it looks like to me 3D TV's are going to be a best seller in 2011!  Yes, I still don't get the whole thing with how it's going to be with 3D TV's and how you are suppose to watch them.  I don't know really how many people really are going to go out and purchase a new TV when they just had to purchase a new one for HDTV and it's to me just way to much to digest and to have someone change right now!  Audio of course is a big, Ford really was the big headliner in the 4 days when the event was going on.  How we are going to be able to communicate to each other inside the car is just amazing to me how it's going to be done.  You will be able to Tweet with Twitter inside the car! Pandora, the internet radio station that we all have started to like even more will be introduced into Ford.

PC of course were headlines, I think the some of the coolest gadgets is this thing will Apple and how it's a buzz that Apple is going to introduce a tablet of sort, well it seems like tablets are really going to be in.  They have this one tablet that is a netbook that runs Windows 7, and then if you take the screen off, which you can just take it off it becomes a tablet and it runs on Linux!  You know how much I enjoy Linux products!

Over all I have enjoyed what I seen here at the event. Of course some of it will fade out in 6 months, some people who have some bright ideas, and it just will not work out for them at all. I am for sure we will see what it will bring for all of us with how 3D should  be in our homes, and how the tablet will make it much easier for us all to do our everyday things, to how Ford will keep us connected while we are away from the laptop and the pc and work.

What I really see this year when I went and heard a buzz was how they want us to still be connected, but away from work, home, and more enjoying nature, and everyday things.

It's back to work once again for the week! And back to blogging here!
